Five People You Meet in Heaven - Mitch Albom

I'm going to dive right in with one of my all time favorite authors, Mitch Albom. Starting with the first novel of his I ever read The Five People You Meet in Heaven.

The jist of this book was intriguing to say the least. The main character, Eddie, is a repair man for an amusement park on a coastal pier. In the first chapter, he's killed. And you are immediately thrown into what can only be described as the "stages of the after life". He proceeds to meet five people. People that had been apart of his life in some way or another. He learns lessons from his own life via the stories of those that were inadvertently a part of it.

It is an incredible book. First book I've fallen in love with since I was in grade school. I absolutely recommend it to anyone. It's a shorter novel and an easy read, but believe me when I say cliche as it may be "great things come in small packages".

Here's what I took away from the book. The littlest things and the tiniest encounters make a ripple in our story. They affect our future. I firmly believe that "meta-universes" actually exist. A meta-universe, is the basic theory that with certain decisions, encounters and moments affect our current universe, creating a second/third universe that would have existed had you decided differently, never had the encounter, etc. In this book these five people, made a ripple in Eddie's life or he in theirs. Makes you realize reality. Take each day for what it really is....another day. God grants you with breath each morning. Thats His gift to us. He's saying I'm giving you another day...."for He giveth and He taketh away", right?? Watch every move and every step....be concious in your life. Breathing in every moment, knowing that this one could be the one that changes EVERYTHING.
